A Saint Lucian American, Dr. Patriann Smith currently serves as Associate Dean of Faculty Success and Excellence and Professor in the College of Education at the University of South Florida. As President of a leading professional organization and a bestselling author, Dr. Smith is widely recognized as a pioneering voice in multilingual education. She has developed influential frameworks — including Transraciolinguistics, Translanguaging with Englishes, Inosans Jan Nwè, Semiolingual Innocence, Raciosemiotic Architecture, and Black Immigrant Literacies — that are reshaping how educators, researchers, and policymakers understand language and learning.
